Dumbbell floor press

Eightpace movement notes · Reviewed by a certified HYROX trainer · 7 October 2026

Keep upper-body pushing in the strength session.

Set up

Lie on the floor with your knees bent. Use weights you can position and lower comfortably.

Keep in mind

  1. Lower the dumbbells steadily.
  2. Let the upper arms meet the floor gently.
  3. Press smoothly, without bouncing or rushing.

What to check

Ask a coach to check your setup if positioning the weights is difficult. Do not use race loads as a strength target.

Use it in your session

Follow the warm-up, target, effort and recovery in your own programme. Log actual results after doing the work. A past result is a reference, not an automatic load or pace prescription.
