Controlled running efforts

Eightpace movement notes · Reviewed by a certified HYROX trainer · 7 October 2026

Practise purposeful running without turning the session into a time trial.

Set up

Read the work duration, effort and recovery together. Warm up before the first effort.

Keep in mind

  1. Keep the first effort controlled.
  2. Use the planned easy recovery.
  3. Record each effort so you can compare the repetitions.

What to check

An effort of 6–7/10 is a cue, not a measured lactate threshold or a race-time prediction.

Use it in your session

Follow the warm-up, target, effort and recovery in your own programme. Log actual results after doing the work. A past result is a reference, not an automatic load or pace prescription.
